Last weekend, members of the Preston Photographic Club traveled to Rye for a photography-filled weekend on the beach.
Fabian Scarmozzino generously opened his family’s holiday home in Rye where about 15 club members gathered for good food, great conversation, and terrific photography. We arrived on Friday night, had a barbecue, and settled in for the night.
On Saturday, we got up before dawn and went to Cape Schanck, the southernmost tip of the Mornington Peninsula, for some sunrise photography. After a hearty breakfast back at the house, we ventured to Sixteenth Beach with its lovely waterfalls and amazing Dragon’s Head rock and to Portsea’s Back Beach with its London Bridge rock arch. We had lunch in Sorrento and returned to the house for some down time before heading to Sorrento Back Beach for sunset photography. After dinner, we returned to Sorrento Back Beach for light painting.
On Sunday morning, some of us decided to sleep in a little while others went to Sorrento Pier for sunrise photography. After breakfast, it was time to pack up and head back to Melbourne. It was a wonderful experience. Big thanks to Fabian and to Joe Conte for helping to organize the weekend.
