Submit Your Hunt & Shoot Photos

Melbourne

Dear Club members,

This is a reminder to submit up to three photographs from the Hunt & Shoot at Edwardes Lake Park to the Competition Steward, Sonya O’Brien. Although the Hunt & Shoot was not a competition, Sonya will create a slideshow to show off our best pictures at the next meeting on 24 February. Email her your images at competition@prestonphotographicclub.net

A big thanks to Sonya for organizing such a fun event.

White Night Melbourne

Flinders Street Station, White Night Melbourne 2013

White Night Melbourne returns this month promising to be bigger and better than last year’s inaugural event.

White Night is a global celebration of art in public spaces. In Melbourne, city streets, laneways, landmarks and cultural institutions are transformed into a cultural playground from dusk-till-dawn. It’s an urban adventure of exhibitions, street performances, fashion, lighting installations, film screenings, multimedia projections, concerts, dance and interactive events. Here are some scenes from last year:

White Night Melbourne is on 22 February from 7pm to 7am. It’s mostly free though there are some ticketed events. Please visit the White Night Melbourne website for more information.

White Night Melbourne is a wonderful opportunity to take some unique photos of a Melbourne transformed. I recommend arriving early as it’s a huge draw and take plenty of water. See you there!

ICE stitches 200 pictures to create a panorama of the Golden Gate Bridge.

You want to take a long shot, but you don’t have a wide angle lens. What do you do?

Take multiple overlapping exposures and stitch them together to create a large stitched image. Not a whiz with with Photoshop? Try Microsoft Image Composite Editor (ICE).

ICE is a free, advanced panoramic image stitcher. Download the software, drop your image files into the program, and it will do all the work for you. ICE seamlessly combines your images to create a high-resolution panorama. It can even do an automatic crop to give you the biggest possible rectangular stitched image. When you are finished you can save it, or publish it on the web using Photosynth.
