The Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) festival at Fed Square, Melbourne, happens annually around November 2nd, celebrating Mexican culture with altars, markets, face painting, music, and the vibrant Catrina Walk parade from the State Library to Fed Square, and while 2026 dates aren’t set, expect similar timing and events in early November. 

What to Expect:

• Altars (Ofrendas): Beautiful displays honoring loved ones with photos and memorabilia.
• Markets & Food: Mexican-inspired stalls, including Pan de Muerto (Bread of the Dead).
• Activities: Face painting and family-friendly fun.
• Catrina Walk: A colorful parade of people dressed as elegant skeletons (Catrinas/Catrines) from the State Library to Fed Square.
• Live Entertainment: Music (Mariachi, Latin bands) and dance performances.
