The aim of this Astrophotography weekend workshop is to help members get started with capturing the night sky while also providing an opportunity for experienced photographers to refine their skills and share knowledge. The workshop will be held in Snake Valley, an official Australian Dark Sky Site, offering outstanding conditions for night sky photography.

Over the weekend, we’ll cover camera setup, focusing in the dark, exposure settings, and simple composition tips, with plenty of hands-on guidance along the way.

This is a friendly, practical workshop suited to beginners, experiment with techniques, and enjoy photographing under the stars with fellow members. You’ll be supported step by step in the field, with opportunities to ask questions, learn from others, and exchange ideas in a relaxed club environment.

If conditions are not favourable for astrophotography on the night, members will be guided through light painting techniques, providing a creative and practical alternative to make the most of the workshop.
